Most new tanks are in the $2.25-2.50 per gallon range, long ways from $1-1.50 per gallon

I purchased a brand new 2000 last year and a 3000 gallon this year. Both were set up just as i wanted and for a whole lot less than you're assuming.

I'll bite on this one a little. I purchased a 1450 gallon CDL tank this season for 1900.00 it was 5x10x5 roughly in size.
Also purchased a LaPierre Tank for that is 1580 gallons for 2100.00, that one is 5x12x50" so yes Ken is on the Money, you can in a way over pay for Dairy tanks if your not careful, if you want a covered tank that you have to get inside to clean than bulk tanks are great, also they are insulated which is a bonus. But when you start going up in size the bulk tanks are not necessarily cheaper than a made for Maple sap tank.

I Personally am getting away from Bulk Dairy Tanks because of the Hassle to clean them probably. I did keep one 1000 gallon for permeate.

The point of my original post is that specifying the tank to your sugaring operations rather than adjusting the operations to the tank will bring even greater value. And, you might find that the price isn't as bad as you expect. As a minimum, one should check with their dealer on a tank quote before purchasing a used tank. Doing so allows you to better appreciate the "value" of a used tank and to evaluate whether the new tank makes sense.

So for N8Hutch's purchases the cost per gallon was $1.31/gal and $1.33/gal. I'm not going to reveal my pricing online but I did even better which is expected for larger tanks.

Only if your shopping at leader!! I was amazed at the open house prices at lapierre and d&g. 1-1.50 a gallon new!!
Had 1500s for 1800$....if your paying over 2$ you'd better shop around because you'll save a few bucks
