    Default Tapped in Woodville 2020

I got about 100 taps in before it got too dark. I'm a week earlier than last year, but things are running. North sides not as much which is good. Hopefully we can get some cold spells to keep the season going for a while. Haven't liked what our winter has done so far.

Should get the rest of the taps in over the next few days. Should have something around 260 on tubing and the rest on buckets. Depending on how many I put out, I could approach 300 this year. We'll see.

    Good luck everyone!

Glad I didn’t put any buckets out today. Holy wind!

It's been wild in Woodville this year. Sap has been coming in early and hard. Last year on March 1, I was between my 3rd and 4th boils. Last night I had my 7th. Last year, I had 1200 gallons boiled by 3/1. Last night, I just passed 2300. Last year, my total for the season was 3800 gallons boiled, but that was from mid-Feb to early April. I'm well into the Dark now and I've had to do a couple of soap washes. The season has all of the characteristics of mid to late March, not February.

These (too) warm weekday spells have brought on some big flows and darkened up the syrup - and busy weeknights. The weekend freezes have done well to recharge the trees. The week ahead looks like more of the same. Not sure how many sunny days touching 60 the trees can get through this week, but the freezes seem to keep things going for a while. Busy week ahead!
