    Default Report From 6 Chip Way - 2020

    Might just as well start now as wait …
    It feels good to be getting ready to sugar after not sugaring last spring ..
    We are adding a few taps this year … want to get to 300 ..
    Have sold the 3 post RO vessels and membranes …
    Going with two 4" posts and going to try the MES membranes ..
    Started cleaning and setting up the sugarhouse today …
    Looking at setting tanks next Monday …
    Have everything ready to go before we tap ..

    Hi Dave,

    It's good to see you're back to sugaring this year. You're going to like the MES membranes. I put them in my RO last season and was very happy with the speed that they process at and that they don't pass sugar. You can't beat the price either. I bought two of them for what Lapierre wanted to charge me for one NF90 membrane.

    I've got everything set up here and am going to tap this weekend.

    Good luck with your season. I am starting to get everything ready for the season myself. Will look at the weather forecast this weekend and decide wether to tap or wait.
    Sugaring for 45+ years
    New Sugarhouse 14'x32'
    New to Me Algier 2'x8' wood fired evaporator
    2022 added a used RB25 RO Bucket
    250 mostly Sugar Maples, 15% Soft Maples. Currently,(110on 3/16" and 125 on Shurflo 4008 vacuum, 15 gravity), (16,000 before being disabled)
    1947 Farmall H and Wagon with gathering tank
    2012 Kubota with forks to move wood around

    We will be dedicating this years Sugaring Season to our son who passed away last Tuesday evening …

    So hope this will be a good year!!!

    my condolences as well. I can't imagine loosing a child

    Prayers to you and your family. Sorry to here of the loss of your son.
    2004 - 2012 2x3 flat pan 25 to 60 taps
    2012 2x3 new divided pan w/draw off 55 taps
    2018 - didn't boil surgery - bought new evaporator
    2019 new SML 2x4 raised flue high output evap. 65 taps
    made 17 gal. syrup
    2020 - only put out 53 taps - made 16.25 ga.l syrup
    2021 - Didn't work out
    2022 - 25 taps on bags / 8 taps on 3/16's line - late start
