    Default Getting ready

Lots of winter left but getting ready in Langlade County. Looking forward to using the new RO. Will have to tap alot of new trees this year as we lost most of our tappers in the July blowdown.

I like the sound retired, 4 to 5 more years for me. Nice sugar house you will love that, sorry about your tree loss, a large part of the state had the big blow down. Must be a mess to clean up the woods but now there is plenty of fire wood.

    I was lucky. 70% Basswood
    10% Bitternut

Scaling back to 30 taps this year due to the storm damage. Will have to wait until after the loggers finish this summer to create trails to some new trees to tap. Looking forward to testing the modifications to our cooker. Hopefully will be tapping the first week of March.

I've given it some thought. Most likely that 40 degrees won't come until late afternoon and will be short lived. It seems that when we have as much snow as we do this year it takes a couple of days for the trees to wake up. I may hang a couple of old fashioned tin pails around our yard just for nostalgia.
