    mine has a gasket/o ring on the pipe that goes into that pipe... however mine is a bernard style... for what it's worth.

    If you can still take the unit apart after gluing , I would glue it up. How old is the releaser? Best thing to do would be Call LaPierre in Swanton. They should help you out. I think Dave Fuller in Lancaster NH has quite alot of experience with the LaPierre releasers maybe worth giving Fullers a call.

    Bascom said about 5-8 years old I can glue it up and still take it off.
