    Default How is it going?

Where is everybody this year? Nobody has been letting us know how the season is going for them. For me the taps have been running slow. No big runs. I tapped half on 2/16 and the other half on 2/23. Made 27 gallons of syrup so far. Mostly amber but the last boil turned a little darker. Will see what tomorrows boil of 350 gallons of sap gives me.

I know! Where are the Jersey folks? I always enjoy hearing about 5050's progress.

Boiled a total of 460 gallons of sap today. Made a little over 8 gallons of syrup. Had some drama thou. A whole developed in our syrup pan. At one point it was "peeing" into the fire box. With playing with the amount of fire in the box we were able to get it to seal up. Tomorrow we will have to disassemble the front pan and fix it.

Got pan fixed. Boiled yesterday with no drama. Taps are slowing down. Even trees that were tapped 2 weeks age are shutting down. Will be pulling the taps on Thursday Made 41 gallons of syrup so far. All looks nice.2019 syrup.jpg
