Default Dark color, but not dark flavor

Today after 6 straight batches of amber, I made my first batch of dark this season (hana 47, so a very light dark, but still dark). The strange thing is, that it does not taste anything like dark, in fact, before filtering I thought it was going to be golden because it tasted lighter than amber. The sap was not old, I boiled yesterday, so todays sap was less than 24 hours old. Any thoughts on what happened?

Also, the sap was ro'd to 8%

    Thanks,

    Mike
