    Cool Mid-coast tapped 3/8

It was a beautiful day to be in the woods today, the snow is pretty deep in a few spots but nothing to stop me from getting all 75 of my taps in. It’s a mix of sugars/reds over 50 acres, somewhere running pretty good straight out of the gate while others weren’t giving up a drop even in full southern exposure. Hopefully I will be sweetening my pan come Tuesday afternoon.

Finally got in the woods today to collect, a little disappointed that only 50 gallons out of 75 taps. Hydrometer said 2.75 for sugar and I think it was lying to me. Anyways,it’s enough to sweeten the new pan and run it wide open for a few hours.

    Default Slow Flow

Collected my first sap today (northeast of Bangor). Some taps—1 gallon. Others—zip. Slow going, but at least the sap has started to flow!
