Default Airblo 8cfm vac pump with Gas Motor

I recently purchased an airblo vac pump with a 5.5 hp honda gas engine, I'm going to have it on 600 taps. My question is are people who are running these units running them at full throttle or can you back them off a bit once the vacuum is up. I have a bunch of experience with these honda motors at work and on a water pump you can cut back the throttle and get 2 times the life out of a tank of fuel.

Just wondering what others experience has been with these units.

I don't have airblo, but run 4 alamos on gas engines. I go a little over idle and with good oil flow I get 20" of vacuum. Too much throttle and my pumps run hot. Adding a 4 gal side tank and my pumps can run for 32 hrs.

I also ran 2 in the past (Alamos) on gas. I ran them on 6.5 HP Hondas at about 1/3 throttle. They did well. I'm running one this year on a 9 HP Honda but it will be Saturday before I figure out the throttle %. I am setting that up with a 9 gal fuel tank. In the past with that pump I only had 4.5 gal and that last 14 hrs on a 6.5 HP Honda
Dave Klish, I recently ordered a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
    After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.

The airablo unit i just bought is already set up at half throttle. they have a set screw that only allows you to go so far. I can go 24 hours on 5 gallons of gas.

I was looking at the pump last night and noticed that very same thing, they must have it governed because of the direct drive and they want to maintain a certain RPM, Airblo gives you a nice manual and it covers the pump unit and reclaimer quite well, but doesn't say a whole bunch about the power unit.

    Thanks everyone.
