    Default Sediment Filter

I just bought a used Waterguys 5000 RO. I am curious about two things. The first is where to get the best value on the sediment filters, I know that I can get them almost anywhere but cost is an issue. Second is the micron rating. Is it necessary to go to a 5 micron filter? Thanks.

Yes, stay with 5 micron, cheaper then replacing membranes. MES, ( Maple Expert Solutions) is where I get mine, best price I could find.

Good price but depends on machine. My old D&G and our new Lapierre take 20" filters. Those on amazon are 10". But I will be checking out amazon for 20".

I have bought amazon filters. Also have bought MES. MES take a lot longer to plug up.

I've used both 5 and 10 micron, I get the 5 unless they are not available. I try to keep a year's worth ahead so I don't get caught short.
I find the polyspun filters better, I do not like the string wound ones.
Dave Klish, I recently ordered a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
    After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.

Thanks for the replies. Another question is how long are the membranes good for. I know that depends on whether they have been washed correctly etc. The unit is 5 years old, but the membranes were sent out to be cleaned two years ago. This is all new to me so just looking for input .
