Default Its back to normal, the way it looks.

In 2017 and 2018 we had 100 taps in the trees by now. The long range forecast, it looks like mid-March at best before we will start. It will be a short season compared to last years 7-8 weeks here in Wisconsin. How about you guys? IMG_6299.jpg
1960 - 1970s 70 taps on galvanized buckets with Dad and Grandpa.
    1970s - 1985 Acted crazy!
    1986 - 2005 20-30 buckets.
    2006- 2017 70 buckets and bags

2020 Finally retired!!! 75 buckets, 50-75 on tubing. RO Bucket, New 12 X 16 Shack and a 42X42 flat pan.

Lots of Family and Friends and dogs named Skyy and Nessy!

Yeah, looking short here too in the SE corner of WI. Had several gallons bottled up by this time last year and that was the start of an incredible season. Temps here nearing 40 over the weekend but diving again afterward so I'm not planning on tapping but could probably get the vacuum taps in - just wouldn't yield much. My silvers will make for a really short season but I found a nice stand of 30-35 sugars I can put on 3/16 so I'm getting all I need ready for that. Last minute surprise to get those trees. I expect a very short but busy season and that might be good. The boss lady was getting pretty tired of me nearly 100% tied to the evaporator for so many weeks

2015 - Small operation. 25 buckets. One excited 5 year old and one 35 year old that feels 5 again.
2016 - One year older. New Homemade 2x4 Arch, Smoky Lake Pan and looking at 52 maples, 17 box elders and 2 walnut trees.
2017 - Shurflo 4008 hooked to 42 stingy silver maples and a few Norways. A couple buckets on sugars and Norways. 10 box elders.
    2018 - ...a few more taps.
2019 - ...more taps on 3/16 gravity. This spiral is heading downward in a hurry.
    2020 - 4x400 RO - RB20 (uh-oh!)

I’m optimistic about our season. Looks like it will be a week or two into March before much happens and lots of snow on the ground. Hope to make syrup well into April.
