    Default testing plastic totes

I can get two free plastic totes, but they were filled with cutting fluid for a grinding machine. I think there was approx. 15% fluid and the rest water. I was wondering if there is a way to clean them good enough to use them for sap and when I think they are clean how would I check to make sure they are food safe? Is it worth taking a chance or should I pass on the totes?

    Thank You, Ryan

I would pass on the totes...I think the cutting fluid would permeate the plastic ..lots of cheap new ones at Wal-mart, Gnome Depot or Lowes.

    Tucker,
Thanks for the reply. The totes that I can get are the large ones that are in a steel cage.

    Default cutting fluid.

    Hi,
If you can get more info on the cutting oil I would be able to help you some.If the oil is a wter soluable material it should wash out and then sanitize with clorox.

Anything will permeate into plastic, True you will be able to get what is on the surface but you will never get out what has permeated into it. Stay away from these like the plague.

I was also very cautious about using them. Maybe I can find someone to trade 2 dirty tanks for 1 food grade tank.

    Default tank

the best thing that those are good for are for liquid ring pumps for the water circulation to keep the pump cool.
