hi JJuhl54, welcome to the Missouri postings. Put some photos of your activity on your profile if you can. Also, what town are you near? I know of several large syrupmakers in southeast MO. john
2020: 220 trees, most smaller than 20" diameter, made 25 gallons
remote location in western Cole County
5/16" plastic spiles, drain into plastic buckets or sapsaks
haul sap out of woods using atv & trailer
wood-fired pans on concrete blocks
one Leader Half Pint 24 x 33" plus 24 x 30 ss pan from a junkyard
cook batch process then finish in the kitchen;
we dont sell our syrup; its for family & friends

Hey john we are located near fredericktown near mark twain
How many days from tip till final collection? That should produce a good quart and a little more! Welcome!
Hey esetter. It was 2 days of collecting thanks for the welcome, we checked 12 taps today and collected 30 gallons
Anything over 2 gal per tap per day is really good. Enjoy the process and the magic moment when it goes from clear to brown and when the bubbles start to crackle when they break! I ended up processing 40 gal. made about a gallon. It got really warm . May get one last run but our tress will be budding soon.
hey esetter; the sap still flowin here in misouri we have collected over 100 gals. of sap since 02/03/2019 with 12 taps, right now we are getting 2 quart of syrup every 25 gals of sap.

Id say you are between 1.5% and 1.8 on your sugar content if I were to guess. 60 here today. No flow needless to say. Got some days coming later next week below freezing but the trees are budding. If I can find some that aren't , I might try to get a late run in. Good First season for you! Congrats.
still collecting sap , looks like a cold snap for a few days with a thaw behind that, hope we get a decent flow, haven't seen any buds on maple yet. We are up to 164 gallons with 12 taps, we have gotten 4 gallons of syrup.
pulled taps 3/8/2019 end up with 170 gal. sap and 4 gals. of syrup, trees startin to bud, can;t wait until next year. planin on 24 taps next year we started with 12 taps this year.
