    Default USDA sap checks

Last week it was brought To my attention that the USDA will be giving .07 cents per gallon of sap produced. I’m not sure if this has already been talked about on Trader. The deadline for submitting your sap logs is Oct 9th. I’m not sure if this is just happening in VT. I submitted my forms last week at the Saint Albans office. I was surprised that I and many others around my town knew nothing about this. There will also be check issued out to syrup producers. I’m told this will happen after the sap checks are giving out. Call the USDA office if you have any question. Don’t miss out.

I got my first round check deposited into my checking account on Tuesday. The check was 7 days latter than a friend down the road.

I applied for the second round, CFAP-2 for 2019. The program last until some time in December. This new program is based on a percentage of sales. Pretty simple.

The program is run by the USDA. It is a Federal Government financial response to the disruption of agricultural production and sales by the Covoid-19 (Chinese Virus).
You can apply through the USDA Farm Service Agency.

The latest program is based on a percentage of your syrup sales. The only information needed to apply is total dollar value of your syrup sales, total syrup sold in gallons, number of gallons of sap produced, and the average sugar content of your sap.

Lee, Call the FSA office in Canton and ask to talk to Glen Bullock. He will fill you in on the details and set up an appointment for you to sign up. It is first come first serve and based on 2019 syrup sales.

I went down to the USDA office last week to sign a form. They told me I’m about two weeks away from getting my check. They informed me that there is another program underway that will pay sugar maker 10.4% of there 2019 sugaring income. I don’t have all the details but I would encourage others to fill out the forms for this program. It only took 5 minutes to do this in there office. Good luck everyone.
