Default Should I unregister with the FDA?

Hello, there was recently an article in the Maple News (December 2018 issue) specifically about the FDA etc. It was a good article and included a lot of information from Commander Joseph Frost from the US Public Health Service. I do not have it here in front of me but I believe the article went on to say (in my own words...) that if you sell more than 50% of your syrup retail that you did not need to register or you could "unregister" your operation. I have been registered for several years and sell @75% or more of our Maple Syrup retail. It seems there has been a lot of conflicting information out there to be had so I have been reluctant to unregister in the past. But after reading that I would lean towards "unregistering" I don't have anything to hide but would be glad to be off of the list and keep things simple. Should I unregister with the FDA? And if so is there a thread on here how to do so? FYI - I am already inspected by the PA dept. of Ag and try to go above and beyond the current regulations. Thanks for your help!

I would also like to hear the answer to this question. I registered a few years ago, but am no longer selling bulk. FWIW I never heard anything back from the FDA.

Sorry I did not post the outcome of my original question. I did unregister @ the time I had posted my question. It was easy, I did get confirmation that I was unregistered and I have not been contacted by them since in any way. So I assume no news is good news...

Probably a good thing. The federal government doesn't help much, or any government for that matter. They just cost everyone money

No one cares about Maple farmers. Really, no one cares. I'm sure chicken, pork, beef - meat is a risky business to the public. No one ever died from maple syrup. Why in the world do we care about the federal government and maple syrup? It is hilarious that we think we're that important. We aren't. None of us. And thank Goodness!

I started to register back when they first started, but never completed it because I read that smaller operations and those who sell over 50 of their crop retail did not need to register. I sell no bulk unless I end up with some commercial. The last time I had any was 3 yrs ago when I had 1 barrel full. Since then I've sold 100% at retail and never hit the $100,000 per year mark. At 300-400 gal production tops I'd need to get over $250 a gallon, not likely! Now after cutting back 200 gal might be my best years.
Dave Klish, I recently ordered a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
    After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.

I was advised by a friend in the USDA to unregister and I did. I can't remember exactly what I done, but if you log into your registration I think there is link to remove your registration. I sell my syrup retail.

I logged in but could not find a link to unregister. I called the help line, and it is closed due to the government shutdown.

I unregistered in December for the same reasons. I followed the link in the original email reminding me to re-register by 12/31. I can't remember exactly the steps I went through, but they were easy. Once I was logged in, I think I went to the page where I could re-register and it gave me (or I easily found) the button to cancel the registration.

I never received any emails ever from them as far as I know. My screen when I login gives no option to re-register or cancel.
