Default Should I unregister with the FDA?

Hello, there was recently an article in the Maple News (December 2018 issue) specifically about the FDA etc. It was a good article and included a lot of information from Commander Joseph Frost from the US Public Health Service. I do not have it here in front of me but I believe the article went on to say (in my own words...) that if you sell more than 50% of your syrup retail that you did not need to register or you could "unregister" your operation. I have been registered for several years and sell @75% or more of our Maple Syrup retail. It seems there has been a lot of conflicting information out there to be had so I have been reluctant to unregister in the past. But after reading that I would lean towards "unregistering" I don't have anything to hide but would be glad to be off of the list and keep things simple. Should I unregister with the FDA? And if so is there a thread on here how to do so? FYI - I am already inspected by the PA dept. of Ag and try to go above and beyond the current regulations. Thanks for your help!

I would also like to hear the answer to this question. I registered a few years ago, but am no longer selling bulk. FWIW I never heard anything back from the FDA.

I was advised by a friend in the USDA to unregister and I did. I can't remember exactly what I done, but if you log into your registration I think there is link to remove your registration. I sell my syrup retail.

I logged in but could not find a link to unregister. I called the help line, and it is closed due to the government shutdown.

I unregistered in December for the same reasons. I followed the link in the original email reminding me to re-register by 12/31. I can't remember exactly the steps I went through, but they were easy. Once I was logged in, I think I went to the page where I could re-register and it gave me (or I easily found) the button to cancel the registration.

I never received any emails ever from them as far as I know. My screen when I login gives no option to re-register or cancel.

I was inspected by the FDA last year and I think it was very informative and easy going. the gal seamed very knowledgeable in all manners of food production and maple syrup. She did go on to tell me the reason for inspecting small producers (under $100,000/ year in sales) such as myself was to prove to her boss's that they are wasting their time and resources by doing the inspections. she was defiantly more knowledgeable than the state inspector that came through a few weeks before. I feel bad that she even had to come as it was a 4 hour one way trip from her office.

Thanks for taking the time to reply and for all the help! With my small operation - selling most of our syrup retail I think I will cancel my registration.

Thanks Buckeyes Gold. It wont let me click on the Food Facility icon on my account. Maybe because of the govt shutdown idk?
