Hi all, looking to build a small RO for my operation to cut down on time and wood consumption. Looking to use a 4" x 40" membrane. What are your opinions for the best membrane to use?

2x6 Leader WSE Evaporator
30 buckets
160 +/- 5/16" taps on gravity tubing
I have a Dow XLE 4040 that I really like. It's a popular membrane for maple RO. Now that the MES 4x40 is available I would get that. Great price and designed specifically for sap. Better than the XLE in terms of its performance numbers.
Smoky Lake 2x6 fuel-oil fired, raised flue, hoods, SSR, concentric exhaust
Home-built auto draw off
Home-built RO - double XLE 4040, PLC controlled
8x10 Sugar Shed
200 taps on tubing with Shurflo vacuum with solar

If your max pressure is going to be under 300 psi and you're not going to concentrate into the teens a Dow NF-270 is a fast flowing membrane. It will pass sugar at higher pressure and higher concentration percentage.

I agree with Russell, the NF membranes are great for small ro systems running under 300 psi. I have one I've been running for 2 or 3 seasons. It works great and I have never passed any sugar. My pressure is always less than 250 psig.
