What are people putting in those small ice cream cones to sell? Maple Cream? Something else. It looks like it would be a good seller at the farmers market and vender shows.

So we’re going to give this a try.
Couple of questions:
When you fill the cone, are you using pure maple cream or a confection made from cream?
How much cream/confection are you putting in each cone?
There are a ton of “mini” cones, plenty of different sizes. 1 oz, 2 oz, 3 inch, 2 inch and so forth.
When answering the “how much” question, it would really help to know exactly what size cone you’re using.
Thanks!

I use the Joy mini-cone because I can get it at the supermarket. They are 1 3/4" tall. It's a little bigger than I prefer just because it's a lot of maple cream to eat at once. I like the smaller ones we served at the Big E, but it's just easier and cheaper for me to go to the grocery store. They go stale quickly in a typical NE summer. Typically a maple cream cone is straight cream and nothing added - which is different from a creamie. These cones hold about +/- 2 tbs. when I level it off at the top if I remember right.

what kind of price do you sell them for
We always shoot for at least 100% over our cost.
In this case it would be:
(Cone price + cream price + serving glove price) * 2 = retail price
The cream price is the retail price per ounce of a one pound tub, times the number of ounces placed in the cone.
So…
.04 for the cone, .62 for the cream, .02 for the glove = .68
.68 * 2 = $1.36
Then we round up to the next quarter dollar to cover the cost of the ice needed to keep the cream cold at the market.
$1.50 each.
Our initial cost will be a little higher because we are buying a smaller quantity of the cones.
This is to both test the market and test the shelf life of the cone.

A maple creamie is maple ice cream?
And do you just scoop the maple cream out of the 1LB container into the cone?
