    Default Eastern Ontario

My son went down to the swamp with the horses on Sunday and cut me a bunch small dry dead elms, I split them small and have a couple cords ready for the next run. Been shut IMG_3677.jpgdown here for a week due to the extreme cold weather. I wasn't out of wood but gotta get all you can when you can. Oh yeh, and 3 month old Lexie came too.

I've worked with horseloggers, lots of hard work and amazing to see them in action. What's his team?

And is it just me or has the rest of the Eastern Ontario thread gone missing?

ETA: it hasn't...it's Eastern Ontario 2018 though...just in case anyone else is having a brainfart :-)

Dead dry elm is awesome to have hanging around in case of an emergency!

Almost zero sap for us since last Thursday as well.

Oh no prob, just couldn't figure things out as I'm also old and none too smart :-) The last horseloggin team I worked with were 17hh Belgians, up in northwestern BC. We rode them home out of the woods afterwards. Could move a lot with a good team of Clydes.

I don't blame you Ian, it is hard to boil and entertain visitors at the same time. Happened to a friend of mine, early morning visitors, started talking and he forgot to open the sap inlet line, big burnt mess.

it doesn't take much, last day of boiling last year next door neighbor popped in for a quick visit and i had the filter press going, wasn't paying attention and the pressure got up it sprayed syrup all over the place. up into the roof and now its mold, not sure how to get it off!!
