Cats check my buckets for me--photo
If you have a mouser at your place, here's a good project: teach the cat to check your buckets. My cats climb the tree, check the buckets and let me know when it's time to collect. As a bonus, they also keep the squirrels out of the buckets!

Now if you could only harness them up to a toboggan to pull the pails full of sap.....then you'd really have something there.
