    Default end of season?

Will this cold weather prolong the season, do the buds swell according to temp or amount of daylight, hoping to get some warm weather to get trees to start dripping again, looks like the cold is going to last at least until middle of next week.

Not sure what the temps are in your area but my trees are running really well with the cool down. It's been almost perfect sap temps here...below freezing at night and low to mid 40's during the day. I believe that the buds are affected by temp not amount of daylight.

Maybe....reasonable chance that it will. Depends on several things.

    Both.

    Best of luck.

Is lower sugar content a sign of budding or just depleted sugars?

I'm not sure, I'm pretty new to the maple world, it can probably be caused by numerous factors, maybe some of the pros will chime in and give you a better answer.i don't even know how to test the sugar content, I just boil until the hydrometer says it's syrup. Good luck
