    Default Sugar Content?

This is our first year sugaring. We have 7 taps out. I collected sap yesterday and tested each bucket. Our lowest was 2.2 and our highest was 3.0. We tested with a refractometer. Are these decent numbers?

Yes those are good numbers. I'm lucky if I hit 2 on my reds.

Those are good numbers for around here. My trees, mostly sugar maples, tend to run 1.7-2.2 range. This year they are 1.5-1.7. Where I used to sugar getting up to 3 was not uncommon but usually more in the 2-2.75 range. A lot of what you get for sugar depends on your location, soil type, how well the trees have grown, and so on.
