    Default Syrup is Red not a good sign for me!

    This has usually for me been the color of the last run or next to the last when it looks Red thru the bottle, hope not it's still February

    my first batch this year had a red tint to it. I'm in northern Vermont and have a lot of season left. hopefully you still have more runs!

    History for me was red means stop and it was the end,but last year I had a nice run of light Amber after the nice red,but will see weather not looking good for us?

    I used the weekend to rinse everything out hoping with the few nights this week and next of 30 degrees we may get another batch or 2.

    I boiled a 260gal batch this weekend to 3.5gal or so syrup of this nice red.

    I also usually get red at the end of the season, but have also got it mid-run. Relax and keep on tapping.
    Been tapping since 2008.
    2018 - 17 taps/7 trees...819l sap, approx 28l syrup
    2019 - 18 taps/8 trees...585l sap, 28l syrup...21:1 ratio
    2020 - 18 taps/8 trees...890.04l sap...gave away about 170l, 30l snafu'd....23l total for me from approx 690l
    2021 - 18 taps/8 trees...395l sap, 12 l syrup
    2022 - 18 taps/8 trees....7 sugars 1 red due to #2 having surgery so had the season off....582l sap, 18.5l syrup
    2023 - 18 taps/8 trees...all sugars again. 807l sap, so far approx 14l syrup
