    Default Moncrief's Maples 2018




    Getting the 2018 thread going! Hope everyone is doing well!

    Upgrades for me over the off season:

    - New 600 GPH RO w/ 8" membrane from MES
    - 500 more taps- total of around 1400 or so
    -New 15 gallon bottler with foot pedal valve control
    - 25 gallon canner/ finisher for filling:
    - (10) more 25 gallon stainless barrels
    - New 800 gallon stainless Sap tank

    2017 Expanded Sugar Shack, new 2x6 with float box, NEXTgen Maple RO, 250+ taps, still on sap sacks
    2016 Sugar Shack, 2x6 evaporator, 160 taps, all on Sap Sacks

    Got 1200 gallons of 1.7-1.8% over the last few days! Concentrating now, going to sweeten the pans and make the first syrup of 2018!

    Sap is hammering! Made 35ish gallons last night. COncentrating now-Should make 15-20 tonight

    221 so far on the year- two feet of snow the last few days, and its froze up hard. Looking like it will be a good reset!

    Yeah as much as I hate to have to move it we really needed the snow. I didn't get as much snow as you did, about a foot I think. The sap started to run a little yesterday and I'm hoping that it will run better today and tomorrow. I've made 75.5 gallons so far which is more than 1/3 but less than a 1/2 crop so far.

    We really did....We have almost 5 ft from the last two weeks- I have been in a hard freeze for 10 days. hoping for a great second half!

    The deep freeze is almost over and I'm hoping for a great second half too! We've got plenty of snow in the woods now to help prolong the season. Now all we need is some good sap weather.

    still going over here- right around 550 gallons on the year. Have 1300 gallons of 1.3% to concentrate tomorrow. sap is still pouring in, but im not sure after tomorrow how much longer i will go.
