Trees were beginning to drip when I was wrapping up around 330pm.

Default That's what I get for tapping early

Cold weather (sap ice) broke one of the fittings in the vacuum system, so when I turned things on yesterday, had a mother of a vacuum leak from the sap pump. Think after the season, i will change some of the piping to flexible tubing so that things can move a little more. Was able to get it fixed, and I think I got 25 gallons starting later in the afternoon. Today things are running pretty good.

Took the day off work tomorrow to make syrup!

Guess I was too eager, but at least I got some done.

    Good luck to all!
    John

Put out 160 taps this weekend because the forecast looked good. Sap was barely running. The new forecast says it won't run until Wednesday. Not much fun tapping in the rain with 2" of snow still on the ground.

We collected 70 gallons today. Sugar content was 1.3 on mixed sugar and red maples.

I checked them yesterday around 5 , not a lot there. I'm figuring today they'll be flooding over.Whats your sugar content?
