Made another gallon and a half today. Most trees are not running today.

I have one larger sugar maple that has given less than half a gallon of sap in the past few weeks. What's is odd is that when I tested the sap today it was over 4%. Any idea why it won't give any sap? Tap is in clean white wood. Every other tree is running including much larger ones.

Taps stopped running with the cold and snow. I have around 60 gallons to boil tomorrow from this week.

All of my sap is frozen solid in the sap sacks. It doesn't look like they will thaw before the weekend. This next boil will be my last this year. I am almost out of wood and have almost 7 gallons of syrup.
Next year I want to run tubing and upgrade from chafing pans to a 2x4 or 2x6.

Never thought it possible, but this could be the year that we do not boil in March. Nothing but dry taps and some frozen sap from trees on the southern edges since end of Feb. Our sugarbush is at 1,700 ft and it appears only those at lower elevation and in the valleys have had sap flow.

I've seen some sugar shacks in the valley steam free, I sit at a pretty high elevation and still have crystal clear sap. Just wondering if people are pulling taps this week or holding off till the last drop. Don't want to waste time and end up with buddy syrup even though trees look pretty bare.

We are right between Greene and Bainbridge, and are still getting good sap, I'm hoping the rain that moves in later today/tonight loosens things up, we haven't boiled in a week, we did lose all our small roadside lines, but our 3 main bushes are holding their own, I plan on being done on Sunday, but that's what I said 2 weeks ago lol

I pulled my buckets Monday and called it quits. They were still running clear in Deposit this week.
