Default 2x6 leader evaporator Max flue pan

Just picked up a 2x6 leader evaporator with Max flue pan that could not pass up. The 2x4 flue pan is a raise flue and drop flue combo. The arch is air tight with blower and wood saver grates. It has a one piece steam hood but with no preheater yet. I was just wondering what the boiling rate would be on it?

Leader rates the evaporation rate for that setup/size at 55 gallons per hour. If you added a preheater it would be about 65 gph.

Wow looks like I'll be making a preheater. Would you know what size copper pipe would work?

Before I had my steamaway my preheater used 1" thin wall copper pipe. I liked the larger diameter because I never saw a big temp drop when the evaporator would start taking in sap.

I'm not sure about copper, but the new stainless preheaters are 1/2" so I would assume something similar would work.
