Default Please post pictures of your air under fire set up

    Hi gang,
I am ready to add the air under fire for the 2x4 I am building and am looking for inspiration. I am replacing my barrel evap which had AUF so I am familiar with the concept. I just want to see how others have done it gather ideas and get motivated. So...if you have any pictures could you post them?
    Thanks !
    Dave

Here is how I did my AUF. The blower to the left is the AUF. It's a 550 cfm Dayton. The blower on the right is for AOF. On the inside of the arch, the AUF comes up through holes in firebrick.

Chad, the AOF blower looks like a squirrel cage blower, correct? If yes, you will get far better results on the AOF with a high pressure paddle blower, that gives it the ability to give enough turbulance over the fire for more complete combustion without adding so much air you cool the fire.
Dave Klish, I recently ordered a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
    After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.

What I did on my 2x3 is took an old oil burner, striped all the oil pump stuff off it. I made a new draft door and mounted it in that. drilled 8 3/4 holes in the sides of the tube. You can adjust air as needed. My arch has a 24x24 fire box. blower.jpg blower2.jpg

Yes, an oil burner blower is a high pressure blower and is good for smaller size rigs.

There is not much to see inside most AUF setups. In my case, I just blow air in under the grate much like Chad does. The area under the grates needs to be sealed and the grates need enough opening for the air to blow through, but if you are operating with natural draft you have that.

Flats, the blower for the AOF is a high pressure blower that has already been replaced with a Koala high pressure blower for a bouncy house. The velocity coming out of my AOF nozzles is calculated at 84 mph.
