    Default Vacuum Regulator

Was looking at making a vac regulator from a brass swing valve and stubble across this at grainger
I've seen the same vac regulators on small portable dairy milking machines.
My pump has a 1" vac inlet. This vac regulator is only 3/4 but it's $19.99. Jumping up to the 1" is $79.99. Huge difference. I'm going to try using the 3/4" and if it doesn't work I'll put 2 on. Still cheaper then the 1"

Is there a reason you need to limit your vacuum?

The 1 inch regulator like pictured can be bought for 29.99. I bought mine through zorro
30x8 Leader revolution, wood fired blower, steamaway/hood. 903 taps all but 54 on pipeline and 3 vacuum systems. Hauling sap this year with a 99 F350 7.3 diesel dump and of course back up is the Honda 450 and trailer.

Reason I need a regulator is because pump will be started early in morning before thaw and pump seems to run the coolest at 23-24" hg so I'd like to keep it from burning up. It's on a gas motor with 12v fan blowing on it.
Running a bender releaser also. Don't think the bender would handle 27-28" that the pump pulls with no regulator.

    Looked at zoro.
They are a little more expensive then $29.99

On one pump I use 3 of those 3/4" regulators. That pump is on a vacuum tank and I hold the vac to 19". Then about 60-65% of the taps are on 3/16 and those taps get max or near max vacuum.
Before next season I've designed a method to add a releaser and will then be able to let the pump make 24-25", it's on an Alamo with after market oilers, don't trust it to try more than that.
Dave Klish, I recently ordered a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
    After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.

I see the price skyrocketed since I bought 2 of them. Ouch

Will I be ok with one 3/4" regulator or should I use 2?

On a 73 you should only need one as long as the orfice is 1/8" or larger.

the bender will handle itself fine with as much vac you can put to it, i made my own reliefs with a pipe cap, rubber wiring gromet , 1/4 in X 3 in bolt with nut, and a light duty pushing spring. drill the center of the cap, put the proper size rubber gromet in the hole, put the bolt thru the gromet hole, then put the spring over the bolt with nut to adjust the spring pressure and there you go . mine is set by tightening or loosening the nut , mine sucks in drawing outside air in at 1 hg before max deadhead vac, my pumps draw small amount of cfm, so very little relief breathing is needed with frozen lines.
