    Default Forced air 2x6, Straight or tapered stack?

    Hey all,

    Still designing my 2x6 for next season. I'm thinking on the stack details. With a forced air arch (AUF and AOF) does the stack need to be tapered or will a straight stack be fine? I would prefer straight stack for simplicity of the build. Any thoughts?

    Take my input with discretion, because I am new to sugar making... (but I have built a few stoves and boilers in the past)
    I would guess with forced air, you wont need to worry about reducing draft due to the lack of a smooth transition,....
    but another advantage to the transition, is it promotes a more even flow of air/heat across the full width of your pan right to the back,... rather than pulling towards the center and creating dead spots in the back corners... Building a transition is a bit of a job, but I think it's worth the trouble.

    I appreciate the input.

    I should note that the back pan is a 2x4 raised flue. Not sure if this will make a difference in my decision or not.

    all the big rigs you see are straight stacked thats why i did mine straight.
