    Default 1900 degree Insulating Board

    Hi.
Does anyone happen to know what the material the Insulating Board that Bascom offers is made from? The 1" x 12" x 36" (rated to 1900 degrees)

    Thanks in advance!

Based on what that stuff sells for, there must be gold or platinum in the recipe. I used ceramic blanket insulation behind the bricks when I put my rig together this spring. It was about $500 cheaper than the board.

You can try these guys located in Woburn, MA. They carry refractory cement, fire brick, fire blanket, 1/4" arch paper and arch board and more. I picked up some 1/4" arch paper from them for a project in the sugarhouse.

A lot cheaper than Leader or Bascoms.
Board will always be more expensive than blanket.

Check shipping costs when ordering. I found a lower price on some a while back and shipping was more than the blanket.

I dismantled my hobby evaporator and now I need to know how to dispose of the used archboard which is n't in any condition to reuse.

It's just ceramic fiber, it should be able to go in the regular trash.
Dave Klish, I recently ordered a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
    After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.
