Default Question for Dr. Tim, or anyone else, about bulk storage

Why am I being told that storing finished syrup in white food grade buckets changes the flavor of the syrup? Why wouldn't they also change flavors of other foods? They seem to be designed for food storage and transportation, so why would Syrup be any different?
    I'm just curious.

    Thanks!!

As long as they are new buckets I see no reason for flavor change if cold syrup is put in them. I doubt they are made to hot pack and probably then would give off some flavor.
