Default How do I drain my high pressure pump?

D&G 600 RO. I have read that you should not let the pumps sit until next season filled with membrane preservative. However, on my ro there is a direct connection between the high pressure pump and the membrane canister near the bottom. Draining the pump would also drain the membrane canister. How the heck am I supposed to do this? I am not going to remove the membrane to store in another container.

Another question would be, how many people here store their ro with preservative in the pump?

In run preservative into mine and leave it. But my machine is 30 years old and the instructions say to do that. Don't know if it is right....

We had an Airblo 600 machine for quite a few years and we ran preservative through it and left it every year. Not saying that it was right. The Airblo is same as D&G and Springtech.

Thats what the D&G instructions say also. That pump is married to the membrane, It could be but not made to be isolated. They did not make it easy to remove the membrane either. But that would be you best bet if your concerned about it. Remove it and put it in a storage container.

Thanks everyone. I emailed D&G and here was their response: "In fact, you could drain the whole thing then close all the drain valves to keep everything wet. As long as there is some water within the vessel, it will be fine (even if it is not completely filled with water)"
They never did answer if it harms the pump. I just don't know if I would trust that the membrane isnt going to dry out if I drain the machine and close every valve.
