I am a first time poster. I am a small hobbyist. I have 5 acres that is split by a veey steep gully that has a creek that runs in the spring. This year I ran a 5/16 line with 20 taps that runs down to 2 55 gallon barrels near the creek. Has worked great but getting the sap up hill is my problem. I need to take the sap up 35-40 feet over the course of about 75 feet. Very steep. In the past i only had a few taps but now I have 110 gallons. I am using a 12 volt Harbor freight pump with5/16 tubing and a 12 v 4 wheeler battery. Pumped about 10 gallons before it gives out. Any recommendations? I can use extention chords to get to the top of where I need to pump. Thanks

pumping 110 gal. thru a 5/16 line will not be easy. You ask if you can use an extension cord. The answer is maybe. What is the pump? What is the voltage it needs? How many amps is it? What will the distance be? These are all needed to determine what you need. You will also need to know the feet of head the pump is rated for. Give those answers and we may be able to answer the question.
You may need a better pump and maybe a larger line to pump thru. The friction in a 5/16 will make it a lot harder to pump.

It should but will take a while.

If lifting 50' you will lose about 23 PSI without calculating line friction loss. In a 5/16 line that might be another 15-20 PSI loss. If you use 1/2" pipe the loss will be far less loss and faster flow. It might still be in the 2 GPM range with 1/2" line, in 5/16 it might be less than 1 GPM.

I bought this to pump from a 100 gal collection tank uphill 40' into a 3/4" mainline. It has male garden hose threads on intake and output. It says 480 gph, I got 50 gal per battery pulling level with garden hose pumping 40' straight up through 5/16 to a 3/4" main. You can get garden hose to npt adapters from Amazon.

With the drop that you have a nice 3/16 system and a bigger tank would work well. I have 80 taps running 3/16 and dropping 20' to a creek bottom. I have a 275 gallon food grade poly tote to collect. I use a 1hp wayne portable sprinkler pump and have a 3/4" tube running 100' to my main tank above. Works well for me. Pumps at about 7gpm FYI. You have a lot more lift so the flow will be lesser yet. Lots of popularity for the Honda gas pumps as well here.
