2017 Update : Moncriefs Maples

its been a busy year so far on this end...new sugarhouse, new evaporator, new vacuum, new RO. 1150 taps or so.

114.5 gallons made so far, didn't tap until middle of February. 90 gallons of delicate and amber, the remaining is a robust but not by much

Out of the 114.5 I have around 30 remaining!

Hit 152 gallons last night. Will be boiling tomorrow from todays run 800 gallons of 1.7% and counting-945pm here and the vacuum is pegged at 28.5" and its flowing strong. releaser is dumping every 5 minutes or so. still over a foot of snow in the woods-with another 8-12 inches tomorrow. Looks like I may be boiling well into april!

up to 260 gallons of that liquid gold! headed to boil now...hoping to break 300 this weekend before the warm weather hits.. sap clarity is great, sugar is dropping off. 31 degrees here now, still slowly coming in.

As they say, all good things must come to an end: Sugaring 2017 is in the books! I processed just over 20,500 gallons of sap, averaging 60.16 gallons of sap per gallon of syrup. For a total of 340.75 gallons of finished syrup! Big upgrades for 2018 are already in the planning phase.

How do you like your 3 post Dolly? My situation is almost identical to yours: 1040 taps on vacuum made 348 gal of syrup on a 2x6 oil fired rig with hood and preheater. I have the same RO and it really struggled to keep up at times. my day job limits my time and I'm thinking I may have overestimated the RO's capabilities.

I am very happy with how the unit performed at times yes I got backed up but the unit is rated for 300 gallons an hour and I had sap coming in at the same rate a few runs during the season the only reason why I am upgrading is because I am going to 2000 to 2500 taps- my plan is to replace this unit with the new dolly 2.0

You have to remember that the Aro is rated for 300 gallons an hour with a temperature of 70 something degrees so when you have sap at 42° you will not get 300 gallons an hour out of the unit obviously the bigger the Aro the last time you spend concentrating but overall I was really happy with this unit just outgrew it way fas you have to remember that the Aro is rated for 300 gallons an hour with a temperature of 70 something degrees so when you have sap at 42° you will not get 300 gallons an hour out of the unit obviously the bigger the Aro the last time you spend concentrating but overall I was really happy with this unit just outgrow it way faster than I thought haha!
