    Smile sap quantity

I just was curious, what is the average, and the most sap you can get from 1 maple tree per season. I read somewhere that 20-25 gals per year was the most. What is the most taps you have put on a large and old tree.
    Thank you.:

About 20 gallons is a good estimate ,and as far as tapping an old tree, until I can't reach around the tree, one tap and then I never put more than two,old trees are just that, old and 2 taps are good, and just like us we don't heal as fast, they don't either, you will get just so much sap.

I thought the rule of thumb was 1 quart of syrup. That would be closer to 10 gals of sap. I don't know.

10 gallons on gravity, 20 gallons on vacuum.
I have put 4 (5/16) taps in the big maples.
