Default Mt Washington Valley Sap Report 2017

Made 2 gallons of Dark Syrup last night, it was pretty close to Amber Rich, I'm sure it will lighten up next week, seemed like lots of sugar sand . Looks like I've got a few Days to get the rest of my Taps in. Nothing like some warm Syrup samples right off the filter tank. That never gets old.

We have about 300 gallons in the tank. Gonna fire up tomorrow. Cant wait! This warm spell definetly helps with getting some thngs in order around the sap house and with the trees. Glad to hear you made a little syrup nate!

Tapped another 100 today, it was hard to get motivated to go out side this morning with the cold/wind/and snow squalls . I think i can finish up tomorrow, laterals are getting shorter. I can now walk under some lines that I was stepping over 2 weeks ago. At least I can travel on top of the snow now. Still 2 feet deep in the shady spots.

Got My Deep cycle Batteries for the sap guzzler Friday and built a Ice Trap/ Debris screen for the pump with a 4" sch 40 T fitting, and a clean out cap. Also mounted a vac gauge and a valve just after it. Can't wait to try it out on Tuesday.

Very nice Nate. Our boil this past Thursday looked like it was going to be Amber but ended up Dark..

Hoping to get a few more taps out tomorrow before what looks like a few runs this coming week.

Let us know how the Guzzler works out. I assume you got the 12 volt version? Did you buy it directly from Bosworth or threw a dealer?

I Bought the Guzzler Direct from Bosworth, Had it in 24 hrs, I Hooked it up to 2 Interstate Deep Cells Battery's. I tried it last night Dry in my Garage and it was pulling 20". I think they pull better with liquid in them going to hook it up at the woods this afternoon.

If it's like my Shurflo pump it will pull more vacuum when pumping liquid. Be interesting to see how much.

Hooked my pump up to the mainline tonight, to my surprise the vaccum went up to 20 pretty quickly, no sap flow so still froze up tightly integrated guess, hopefully my system is tight will know better tomorrow I guess. Fingers crossed.

I checked my weather station graph and we only hit 31 degrees for about an hour this morning. I can't tell if some of my trees are too cold or not cold enough. looks like tonight is gonna be a little cooler. fingers crossed
