Well 2020 is here I have been making some improvements this season
Sold my 4x8x4 CDL woods Tank and Replaced it with a 5x12x50" LaPierre Tank. Last season the CDL tank would overflow on good runs before I could get home from work.
Replaced my 600 gallon permeate tank with a 1000 gallon bulk tank that was my sugarhouse sap tank and purchased a 5x10x4.5' tank from CDL for the sugarhouse. Stuck the bulk tank out through the wall and trimmed around it so now the sugarhouse is secure. Will post a picture if it will work
Just purchased a Gast pump 2567 with a 1.5hp for my 150+ taps at the sugarhouse and A new LaPierre electric releaser to go with. This system will have lots of Ladders so I figured that the electric releaser was the best route even though it's such a small orchard.
Just took Delivery of a CDL modulating Auto Draw. I always said that I thought an autodraw was a waste of dough but I seem to boil alone alot more these days(what does that say about me) and it can get pretty busy firing with wood and make 10 or more gallons per hr.
Finally this weekend in the frigid Cold I am going to attempt to put up another 1500' of Mainline in an attempt to shorten Laterals and get more vacuum to the taps.
Hopefully all these improvements will make for a little more enjoyable and productive sugaring season. I have enjoyed everyone that I can remember in my 38 years.
I have been trying to be more involved or atleast present at our NH Maple Producers meetings. They really do a great job promoting Maple in NH. It amazes the amount of time a handful of people put into the association for everyone else's benefit. If your not a Member of your state or county Association you might want to consider it. They really are there for you weather you are in Maple for Sport or to make money they make it easier for us.
Looking to start Tapping around the 20th, good luck to everyone who takes time to read this , and everyone who doesn't.
