Congratulations on such a successful year Teddy. I am still waiting for things to really get rolling up here. Tell your peepers to stay where they are!

Hopefully they will listen and not travel north. Finished up our two day boil today. Made another 10 gls of amber syrup. Overall my syrup has been light this year. Haven't made any dark yet. Suppose to get to freezing the next 3 nights, then 2 warm days then another 3 or 4 good weather days. Hopefully it's not done yet for me.

Well I haven't heard the peepers here, but when I came home tonight at 8, there were half a dozen people out on the street in reflective vests. I thought it might be a power crew working on lines downed in the storm, so I asked them what was going on. One told me they were looking for salamanders. So I guess that there are reptiles (or amphibians - I never got that straight) in the area!!

I'm holding out some hope for one or two more weeks in Southern CT. But if you guys are tapping out, We're not far behind.

I heard the peepers on Saturday. I heard the peepers again last night and I expect they'll be loving the rainstorms tonight.
But I read that a MT heard that when you hear peepers 3 days in a row, then we're finished.

With the freeze coming back Thursday night up here, I'm holding onto hope.
    12 taps for 2009.
    30+ for 2010.
    30+ for 2011.
2012- Still holding around 30+ with no help in sight.
2013-Still a loner but what a Fantastic yielding year
    2014- Forever a loner
2017-Still here, after trying to kick the habit.
Down to 15-20 taps with the intent to save my marriage.

Sap Haulers- Kids NADA, I tried but I'm on my own.
Buckets and Sap Saks, 4 steam pans, Block Evaporator, and single burner propane for finishing.
