    Default Next five

The next five days look like ideal surgaring temp!! Right?

Mabey I can make another 5 gal to bring me up to 25. My reds look like they have leaves so I wont collect that sap but the surgars apear to still have nice tight buds. Some of my buckets are half full.

    Any thoughts?

    Good morning,
Had 14 here 45 minutes ago, now it's 23 (in the sun).
May get up to 37 here tomorrow, but after that looks like the mid to upper
    40's this coming week.
Well there goes the grade, no doubt right back to medium or dark (from "B").
We'd like to make another 8-10 gallons this week. We'll have to see.
We've made 23.5 gallons, our average is about 27 -28 with 100 taps.
We'll go till the sap gets bitter.
May have to use next years wood.

Buckets are filling up!! I checked a few of my trees and the sap is @ 2%. Looks like I will get a few more boils this coming week. I will gather tommorow late afternoon.

Just talked to Father and Son, and he and I both are chomping at the bit to get some taps back out. I am just a little North of Jim and the hard maples are just ready to bud. Very tempting but the wife, thinks I am nuts, Maybe she just figured that out after 35 years???
I have everything cleaned up and the buckets and evaporator cleaned and out of wood. So I think I will throw in the towel but it sure does look like some of the best syrup weather coming up this next week.

    Tempting very tempting

    Danno,
Don't twist my arm anymore. I don't need a lot of encouragement to keep monkeying with maple.

I collected about 40 gal of semi cloudy sap today. First collection in 5 days or so.

But the sap is a strong %3 so I put it on sap ice and into the garage out of the sun. God willing we will collect another 80 Gal over the next few days and get enough for a good last boil!

I have one red with tight buds and sap @ %2.5 and across the street I have a red with what looks like full bloom buds and full buckets of %2 sap. (Go fiquare) I dumped this sap for fear of of the dreaded buddy flavor!
