Thanks for the info folks! I had what could have been a disaster last night! I found out the hard way that it's possible to melt aluminum with a turkey fryer!!!! Thankfully the shed is fine, but the pot now has a 2 in h hole in the bottom. I can't believe I fell asleep and didn't wake up till this morning. I have a lead on a stainless pot so hopefully I can get my hands on that by tomorrow.
It is not recommended to cook syrup in aluminum. Good idea on stainless.
