My brother has a place on Frimodig road. If you are year round up there you must have a great snowplow!

Trees in the open are dripping slowly. Woods trees are mostly dry holes so far.
Looks like a slow start. Couple warm days coming then cold weather returns here.

It is running slow, but still running. Still 38 so should run for a while yet.
I have a place in Hancock, I'm here 4 days a week, 52 weeks a year, Mr. G keeps road open. Wife and I get along better that way. I tap 30 trees using old metal pails, boil in flat 30 gal pan, finish on camp.

That's great! I love that area. I parked my snowmobile trailer at Tony's once a few years ago. I think I gave them a few bottles of syrup in appreciation. My brother's road isn't cleared in winter. Both my brother and I are MTU grads and are drawn to the Keeweenaw.

Just curious who has tapped and who is holding out yet......
New for 2016 Mason 2x4 XL with AUF blower. No more boiling in stainless steam table trays or pots for me.
Starting tapping Sunday March 5. Slow start but it ran nice Monday and Tuesday. Highs of 50 lots of snow melting. Still a foot or so in the woods.
Looks like it will shut off again for a week as winter is forecast to return again.

I agree with Fishman - early tapping can be quite frustrating. Tuesday was great (48/sunny) for cleaning equipment and shack, and the trees probably ran liked crazy, but..... Next Thursday (3/16) looks like the start of something good. Am getting back into the fray after a couple years off. Will start with about 50 taps and see how I get on.
Happy Sugaring guys!
