Probably a little bit of both. They save a fair amount of money using the stick-on labels and they grab those who want to have their own jug done up.

And their not the only jug outfit screwing with things. Crushons, the ones through the Dominion-Grimm dealers anyway, are changing the shape of their bottle and changing the graphics slightly. According to my jug dealer, nobody is happy with the change and they had no idea why their changing. And on top of that, as of a month ago or so, there were no half gallon containers to be had because of the switch-over!
Anybody know anything on the D & G change? Just curious.

I'm not happy with our jug situation just like you guy's aren't happy with yours.

SugarHill is my customer yes they were bought out by a large entity however I can tell you that their container quality has not changed. I can get you a contact name and number if you would like to discuss this more in depth with someone.

They have one of the best custom silk screen dept I have ever seen. This could be something as simple as the label glue not adhering properly to the container

For one batch last year I stuck all my name/address labels on my jugs before I filled them. I'll never do that again, they all wrinkled and lifted in the corners. My best guess is the heat loosened the adhesive. Perhaps something similar is happening here. Hoping my supplier still has the old ones.

Ok, so I ran across this thread and got all worried.

I just talked to the Sugarhill folks. They are NOT changing all of the jugs, just the Sweet Gold (like what Wiam posted) and said there were no plans to change all of their state specific designs. If you want a custom design, they can do either printed on jugs or jugs with labels, but there is a 1000 jug (per size) minimum for labels.

So if you're a Sweet Gold user, lets hope they get the wrinkles worked out. If not, no need to get worried just yet.

I don't buy my SugarHill jugs direct, and my supplier was stocked well enough that still have not seen any with the label, they're all printed on the jug. Before the buy out I did get prices to go with my own printed jugs but I have not gone that route yet. If I did more syrup I'd make the change. Custom printed jugs cost less (but only after you have paid the initial screen charge)
Dave Klish, I recently ordered a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
    After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.

All my pints and quarts this year were with the label jugs and I didn't have a problem with any of them
