Cool! I'm curious - you don't show this in your photos, but I assume that second wire coming off the ring (next to the one that holds the apparatus up in the bucket) is to go through the holding tabs on the filter, right?

    Thanks again for the kudos.
Yes, the short wire is meant to hold the filter but we are also using stainless steel clips.

Let me add my note of admiration. We tried many tricks to get better use of cone filters, but nothing as good as this.

I wonder if Smokey Lake would take back the new flat filter I just bought two weeks ago? Just kidding as they are pretty nice but your persistence is commendable as I just gave up dealing with the plugging issues of the cone filter. I would say you have a revolutionary breakthrough in cone filtering and hope you sell a lot of them.

Something else about this I wanted to mention.
Every prefilter whether its a flat or cone will eventually plug up and then you need to change it. Cone prefilter needs to be picked up and poured into the next prefilter, what a pain with hot syrup.
With our rack; once the prefilter plugs up you pull the filter up off the rack and the prefilter reverts back to it's original cone shape. The remaining syrup then filters through the bottom of the cone that has done little or no filtering

What did you use for the rods? Are they welded? They look welded.
