Goodness. I'll try to not let that go to my head.

Yes, vacuum helps a lot, especially when you don't get a freeze at night. The pump is still humming away now. I can tell you that the sap was running well when I was tapping last Mon/Tues. And on Wednesday before I got the vacuum hooked up it was pouring in through the line. Sugar was up to 2.5% yesterday, which is on the high side for me. I'm now at about 6 gal. sap/tap for the season and would like to triple that before we're done. Certainly a promising start and I'll be glad to have a couple days off this weekend.

Finally cleared the 200 gallon mark today. Doesn't look like any more real freezes in the long range for me. Might get another run as there is still snow in the woods with frost underneath. I'll know soon enough.

Well surprise, surprise. Sap lines were iced up this am, though not solid. We'll see what that means for a run today, but it can't be a bad thing! How did everyone else make out?

I'm currently at 380 gallons of syrup made, or 110% of average yield. Plus 350 gallons of sap in the tank and the sweet in the evap. Still not expecting to match last year's incredible total of 440 gallons, but expecting to hit the 400 gallon mark at least.

We are still going here in Windham. Lines frozen this Morin but thawed quickly. Wish it had been a lot colder. Had a decent run today. Have not heard any spring peepers yet this year. I don't remember ending a year without hearing them for at least a few days before we are done.
