Copper evaporator
I am looking at buying a G. H. Grimm 30" x 8' wood fired evaporator it has a 30"x30" flat pan and a 5'6" raised flue pan. Both pans are copper. I am not sure how much this pan would normally go for. I was also wondering if copper evaporators were still being used.
They're still used. They work well but are tougher to keep clean because you shouldn't use chemicals to help clean it. I used to have one.

Yes they can be I had my entire 3x5 raised flue flue pan redone cost me around $500

Thank you for all the feedback. Is there any benefit of using copper instead of stainless steel.
The biggest reason would be heat exchange. SS conducts very poorly, copper does it excellently.
Dave Klish, I recently ordered a 2x6 wood fired evaporator from A&A Sheet Metal which I will be converting to oil fired
Now have solar, 2x6 finish pan, 5 bank 7x7 filter press, large water jacketed bottler, and tankless water heater.
Recently bought another Gingerich RO, this one was a 125, but a second membrane was added thus is a 250, like I had.
After running a 2x3, a 2x6, 3x8 tapping from 79 taps up to 1320 all woodfired, now I'm going to a 2x6 oil fired and a 200-425 taps.
Jrthe3 who did you have do the re solder job?
