I have a gear pump full 7" press with 1/2 the plates. I have to watch the pressure I can only tighten it so much with one hand (other arm still not good yet) I bought it used with 1/2 the plates long story... anyway I just put in a bypass with a Y connecting it back into the intake feed line so I can adjust the pressure works great. The guy I bought it from said he kept blowing through papers too. I am still happy with it. once its hot I have to remember to go back and retighten it. I always keep a towel on top as per Glen goodrich who said always keep a towel on top or you may have syrup everywhere especially at the worst time like when you are giving a tour.....
