    I'm going to tap on the 14th I think. Looks like good weather from the 18th on.

    Hmmm....I actually feel prepared this year. I must be forgetting something.....

    2012: 2 taps 1 quart of something resembling syrup and 1 cup of sugar
    2013: 12 taps 3 gallons of syrup
    2014: 20 taps 4 gallons of syrup
    2015: 25 taps 10 gallons of syrup
    2016: 60 taps 12 gallons of syrup
    2017: 75 taps

    We’re going to be ready to go on the 20th.

    My wife and I ran an experiment a few years ago to check the accuracy of the 10 day forecast.
    The short of it was that 10 days out the forecasters had a 2% chance of guessing the temperature within +/- 5 degrees, and only a 60% chance of getting it right (+/-5) 24 hours in advance.

    Lesson here is, you can prepare for it 10 days out, but don’t go scheduling vacation time just yet.

    I've been watching that long range forecast also. Looks like the Kalamazoo area(we're tapping in Van Buren Co.) will be ready starting about next weekend. I think we'll be out tapping the 18th or 19th

    Fourth season sugaring...........

    2014- 3 taps, a couple quarts of finished syrup
    2015- 12 taps, 2 1/2 gallons syrup
    2016 - Put out 24 maple taps, and 3 walnut taps. Collected 240 gallons of sap, and bottled up about 6.5 gallons of maple syrup. About 12oz of walnut syrup.
    2017 - About 4 gallons of the most amazing syrup I've ever had!

    I'm thinking about tapping around the 15th. Unfortunately it's March 15th.
    2006 - 12 taps on open fire
    2011 - 50 taps new 2 x 4 flat pan + warmer
    2012 - 65 taps new 16 x 16 sugar shack
    2013- 75 taps and no more, well maybe 85 now
    2016-97 taps

    Well, I tapped all 60 of mine today. I'm hoping for a run this Friday. Forecast looks good.

    I tapped 141 this weekend i hope to see ti run by Saturday. I am an hour north of grand rapids.
    2014 15 taps 1 gallon on a turkey burner
    2015 100 taps 10 gallons on a smokey lakes full pint
    2016 188 taps, full pint pan, and a home made RO system

    I was going to tap today, but I don't like to tap during snowfall. So I guess I'll go get more firewood from the woods. Tomorrow looks like a better tapping day. Temp supposed to hit 31.
