Default Hello from far north Wisconsin

Hello to all! I have been lurking on the site for about 1 year and really enjoy the content and education which I have received so far. Tapped 24 trees last year for about 1 1/2 weeks and ended with 3 1/2 gallons. As the bug appears to go, I ordered 36 more taps and holders for this year.

Love the site so far and look forward to some new friendships and advice through it.

    jbelany,
Approach this with caution!!!!!!!!!!!!! I started out with 4 pails and it took over. It becomes addictive. Come winter you'll have sleepless nights thinking and worring about things pertaining to syrup and the weather need for it. Consider yourself warned. But you'll love every moment of it. This web site will become one of your favorites, because of the endless help you can get from the members. Everyone of them is so willing to help. I know because 20+ years ago I never tapped a tree.
    Enjoy yourself and welcome.

Hello jbelany! Welcome to the Maple Addition site! I'm in Barnes, just a bit south of you in Bayfield County. I have been making syrup for 5 years now. This will be my 6th. It is such an awesome time to get out in the woods again after being cooped up all winter. Congratulations on making 3 1/2 gallons your first year! I too use bags and 5 1/16" spiles. I'll bet that you are over 100 taps next year, as the addiction goes on and on! Cindy

Thank you both! I keep looking at the long term forecast trying to figure out when. It has been a great winter snowshoeing and being outdoors, looking forward to the warm up.
