In the Spring of '15, after boiling with Eric Johnson of Tucker Mountain Maple for 10 years, we began boiling the sap from our 3-400 taps here. I bought my rig from Eric, a 2-1/2 X 8 raised flue on a custom air-injected wood-fired arch. We put our syrup up in glass and sell til we run out. We are not using vacuum, an RO or filter press.

Definitely A propaganda piece, while I certainly wouldn't want to be in their situation it is kind of an incomplete story. At no time do they discuss how much syrup they we're allowed to produce " quota" or what affect it was having on there Finances.
I just think they could have given us much more information the story was very short sided. I understand there frustration for sure but only telling half the story isn't always that helpful.

And to be clear - that is in Quebec only. In Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia we are free to make and sell syrup. Most producers in Quebec are satisfied with the stability the Federation gives them in terms of price per pound and a know market for their syrup.
